Terms & Conditions
Last updated: June 2026
1. Use of this website
By accessing cognitionlab.life you agree to these terms. The site is provided for information about CognitionLab and its AI research and prototyping services. You agree not to misuse the site, attempt to disrupt its operation, or use automated tools to scrape content without our prior written consent.
2. Language
In accordance with Quebec's Charter of the French Language, you may communicate with us and receive services in French upon request. These terms are provided in English for convenience; a French version is available upon request at [email protected].
3. Accuracy of information and prices
We take care to keep information current, but content, solution descriptions and indicative prices in Canadian dollars (CAD) are provided for general guidance and may change without notice. Indicative prices are not binding offers; a final scope and fee are confirmed in a written agreement.
4. Enquiry process
Submitting an enquiry does not create a contract. It allows us to understand your AI research requirements and prepare a scoped proposal. Any engagement begins only once a separate written agreement is signed by both parties.
5. Cancellation
Cancellation terms for active projects are set out in the applicable engagement agreement. Where no agreement is in place, enquiries may be withdrawn at any time at no cost. For signed engagements, cancellation fees follow the terms specified in that agreement.
6. Nature of AI and research services
Our services involve AI prototyping, POC development, model validation, UX research and innovation workshops. We deliver them with professional care but do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation. AI outputs and prototype results should be validated by qualified personnel before they are relied upon for business, clinical or regulatory decisions. Nothing on this site constitutes legal, financial, medical or other professional advice.
7. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, including the Civil Code of Quebec, CognitionLab is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses arising from use of this website. Liability for our services is governed by the limitations set out in the relevant engagement agreement. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under Quebec or Canadian law.
8. Separate contract recommendation
We recommend that all projects be governed by a detailed written contract covering scope, deliverables, timelines, fees, intellectual property, confidentiality and responsibilities. These website terms do not replace such a contract.
9. Payments and refunds
Fees for services are invoiced in Canadian dollars (CAD) as set out in the engagement agreement. Applicable taxes, including GST/HST and QST where required, are added as specified on invoices. Refunds, where applicable, follow the terms of the engagement agreement.
10. Intellectual property
All content on this website — text, graphics, logos and images — is owned by or licensed to CognitionLab and may not be reproduced without permission. Ownership of project deliverables, including prototype code, evaluation scripts and research reports, is defined in the relevant engagement agreement.
11. Confidentiality
Information shared during enquiries is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. For active engagements, confidentiality obligations are governed by the written agreement between the parties.
12. Consumer protection
Where you qualify as a consumer under Quebec's Consumer Protection Act, mandatory protections under that Act apply and prevail over any conflicting provision in these terms to the extent required by law.
13. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. The courts of the judicial district of Montreal, Quebec, shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from or relating to these terms or use of this website, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that may confer jurisdiction elsewhere.
14. Severability
If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force and effect.
